1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NRSVue) reads First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.” At present, we sometimes do that during prayers of intercession—but in a very vague and general way. Beginning next year, after January 20, 2025, I intend to be more specific on occasion. I’ve come to believe this is appropriate, but I want to start it after the next election to avoid any appearance of partisanship.
