A Thank You Note From Linda Beever

thanksReceived from Linda Beever:

I want to thank all of you who sent cards, called and sent up prayers for my recovery. I am blessed so very much that it is overwhelming.  God is so good to me that he gave me two churches to love and care for.  Plus all the scattered people who put me on their churches’ prayer lists!  Our God is AWESOME!  Thanks to the ladies who stayed in the office and helped answer questions, I appreciate it.

I love you all, Miss Linda

Thank You

pack-their-packs2This is a very welcoming sign as one enters the building through the main lobby doors. We’ve collected alot of materials for the Pack their Packs program (the cart has already been emptied once). We’ve still got a ways to go, but the progress is encouraging. We’re not only accepting school supplies and monetary donations, we’re also asking for prayers. Even if you can’t contribute materially, we still need your prayers.

Missing Darcie Hernandez

I’ve long wondered about how much it was appropriate to post here about funerals. Starting now and for the time being I’m going to be implementing a more liberal policy.

And in the mode allow me to say that I’m missing Darcie Hernandez. Whenever someone passes away I go into a strictly professional mode until the funeral service is over. I think it’s a necessary coping method to make sure that I’m able to make it through the service. My personal grief catches up with me later and in this case it’s catching up with me now. I would ask everyone out there pray for her family and for all those who grieve. The death of an 18 year old is always hard because it’s always unexpected.

I want to thank those who helped with the funeral services and especially those who helped serve the funeral dinner: Carmen Winston, Judy Hiner, Pat and Elizabeth McCoy.

Easter Breakfast Raises $216

thanksThanks to everyone who contributed to the free will offering for the Easter Breakfast. Because all costs were covered by donations before breakfast even began, the entire $216 that was collected will go into the emergency assistance fund.

Thanks for Food Bank Donations

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who contributed to our recent food bank drive. Even though we’ve been handing out quite a bit of assistance we now have about three times as much as much as we did when we started. We’ll be emphasizing food bank donations the first Sunday of every month, but we’ll accept contributions any time. Pantry items can be left in the grocery cart or taken to Room 004 in the basement.

UMW Sunday

thanksJenny and I want to say a special thank you to the United Methodist Women for the leadership they provided during this morning’s worship services for UMW Sunday.

Apportionments Paid

thanksWe received a thank you certificate from the Annual Conference for paying 100% of our apportionments in 2008. At the conference Council on Finance and Administration I was able to see some figures that showed that Coffeyville First has been paying apportionments at 100% since 1993 (a total of sixteen straight years).
