Thank You from the CCC Relay for Life Team

We received the following thank you note yesterday:

Thanks for allowing the college Relay for Life team to use the kitchen for the chicken and noodle luncheons. Our team could not be successful without your help, and your support is greatly appreciated. [Signed] John Greenfield.

Summer Reading Thank You's

We received not one, but two thank you cards from the Coffeyville Public Library thanking us for the use of the west lot for the summer reading program kick-off party. The first from Janie Hearson:

Thank you very much for your contribution to the Coffeyville Public Library’s Summer Reading Program — Make a Splash – Read! it is very much appreciated!

The second was from Jennifer Dalton, Library Director:

Thank you for allowing the Coffeyville Public Library to use your [west lot] for our Summer Reading Kick-Off Party. Our theme this year is Make a Splash … Read!

The children had a wonderful time getting wet as they played water games on the hot summer day.

We had over 100 children sign-up for summer reading at the party.

Thank you for making this successful event possible.

A Belated Thank You

On May 5, 2010, a crew from Taylor Crane came and removed two cooling towers (pictured above), heat exchangers, and a compressor that had been left behind when the HVAC system was upgraded several years ago. They placed these components on a truck and trailor provided by Dave Larimore. All this was done at no charge. A belated, but sincere, thank you to the crew from Taylor Crane, Jim Taylor and Dave Larimore for all the help. The only excuse I have for this being so tardy was that I thought I had already done it.

Thank You From Pam Jones

Received from Pam Jones:

A sincere thank you to everyone who helped with my father’s (Burce Tovey) funeral dinner. The brisket was so tender and all of the food was absolutely delicious! The “After Church Dinner” was a great idea. How wonderful to get together for another meal and fellowship.
Your love and friendship is greatly appreciated.

With Love,

Pam Jones

A Thank You From the City

Not to belabor the point, but the church received a thank you letter from Mayor Alec Hendryx thanking us on behalf of the city and city commissioners for our work at Grace Park. I wanted to pass this information along to everyone who helped.

Church Dinner a Success

Everyone had a good time at the church dinner after the 10:50 worship service today. The fellowship was great. Thanks to everyone who helped with food preparation and clean up.

Energizing Worship this Morning

I really felt energized by worship this morning. We only had 27 people present, but it felt great to gather to worship God despite the foul weather. Thanks to everyone who came and to everyone who wisely stayed home.

A Very Sincere Thank You

A very sincere thank you to everyone who has been letting us know when a member or friend of the congregation takes ill. These notifications help us respond quickly to those in need of pastoral care. Thank you.

The Great Flood of 2010

Jenny went into the church today around 4 pm to find that a pipe had broken in the exterior wall of one of the third floor bathrooms. It was a deluge. No matter how much water you’re thinking there was on the main floor and in the basement, you’re not thinking of enough. When I arrived, there was an inch of standing water in the back hallway of the main floor, water in the parlor and choir room, more water in the two basement classrooms, the furnace room, the food pantry, and the back hallway of the basement, and surprisingly little water on the third floor. Nonetheless, the building is ready for worship tomorrow. Jenny and I want to thank (in alphabetical order) Jan Hester, John Hester, Dave Larimore, Daniel Lee, Pat McCoy, Burton Walker, and Bob Whitson for all their help.

Thank You

Jenny, Elizabeth and I want to say thank you for the gifts and cards we received this Christmas. These tangible reminders of your love and care for us are deeply appreciated and we hope that our love and concern for you comes through in our preaching, teaching, praying and listening. May God bless you all in 2010.

Thank You

thanksJenny and I want to take the opportunity to thank Faye Millen and Becky Griffiths  for providing us with a great performance for special music yesterday. We love it that some of the best musical performances in town can be heard during regular morning worship at First United Methodist Church.

We also want to thank everyone who showed up yesterday for the hanging of the greens. Everyone was exhausted when the work was done, but the work was done well and the chapel, sanctuary, and lobby look great.
