A friendly reminder that there is an online bulletin as well as links to a pdf bulletin and pdf children’s bulletins at abilenefirstumc.org/bulletin/. These are available every week, but I wanted to share a extra reminder for Easter.

The Youth Group Met Yesterday
Yesterday, March 25, 2020, the Youth Group met together remotely via Zoom. Zoom is a service that allows for a group of up to 100 people to video conference via their computers, tablets, or phones. Those without internet access can call in from a touch-tone phone. The youth all had a good time and will meet this way while the COVID-19 restrictions are in place. Wendy Robinson is looking at doing the same thing with the children who normally attend Power and Light. Stay tuned.
Children’s Pages For Sunday Morning
I plan to put a link in the online bulletin this Sunday, but I’m posting it now to let parents and guardians know about it. Illustrated Ministry, whose resources we have used before during Lent and Easter, is providing Children’s coloring and activity pages for free during the COVID-19 Pandemic. You can download them at the link below. Let me know if you don’t have a printer at home and we’ll get you a hard copy.
One final note, these are lectionary based and we’re going off the lectionary this week so they won’t match up with what we’re doing in this weeks “The United Methodist Home Companion.” Nonetheless, they are still excellent resources.
Lego Batman This Sunday
I’m planning on talking about “The Lego Batman Movie” for the children’s message in our next episode of “The United Methodist Home Companion” this coming Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Have you seen the movie? Have your kids seen it? Will anyone else know what I’m talking about? Let me know. (Yes, I do have the Lego Batmobile.)
Youth Super Bowl Subs
The youth will be selling Super Bowl Subs in the Narthex before and after the 8:15 and 10:30 services on January 19 and January 26, 2020. The Sub sandwiches will be $9. Sandwiches can be picked up on February 2 (Super Bowl Sunday) in the narthex (lobby) before and after both worship services. Stop by the table in the narthex to fill out an order and support our Youth! Funds will be used for service projects and special trips.
Youth Service Project
The Youth will be helping with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on January 20. Youth need to meet at “The Place” (421 N Cedar) at 10:30 we will be helping prepare and deliver meals. Please contact Wendy for more information.
Youth Lock-In
We will be having the Youth Lock-in on Thursday, January 2, 2020. We will be going to “SKYE” in Salina from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. and then coming back to the church until 8 a.m. on Friday.
If your child is planning on coming, please let Wendy know by Tuesday December 31, 2019, so we can arrange enough transportation. There is no cost for the youth to attend but will need to provide own money for snack and drink while we are at SKYE. Youth are encouraged to bring snacks, drinks, movies, blanket, pillow, etc. for our time at the church. We will have breakfast Friday morning.
If you have any questions contact Wendy Robinson.
Youth Mission Project
Youth are gathering at the church this morning in preparation for delivering groceries to a local Abilene family in need. They purchased $200 worth of groceries for this family with money earned from their fundraisers. Wendy is proud of our youth and you should be too.

Wendy Robinson, our intrepid Director of Children and Youth Ministries, has requested glass jars for an upcoming crafts project. There will be a box in the Narthex (lobby). Wendy is looking for jars that are jelly/pickle sized or larger.
