Church Office Closed Today (Thursday)

Enough of the predicted weather has arrived that the Church office is closed today (Thursday, December 22, 2022). Stay safe, stay warm. Pray for those workers who have to go out. Pray for the homeless who can’t go in.

We May Be Closed Tomorrow

Folks, it is likely that we will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, December 22, 2022, due to inclement weather. I encourage you to call the church office at 785-539-4191 before trying to make your way in. If the office is closed, feel free to call me on my cell phone at 620-252-9622.

Church Office Closed Today

The church office is closed today. This is because Anna has a migraine, and I will be driving Jenny to and from a regularly scheduled medical procedure. Feel free to call me on my cell phone. (You can find my number in your bulletin.)

Big Voice, Big Heart!

From Dawn Anderson:

William Michaels, son of Wendy and Wayne Michaels, and grandson of Jim Tubach, began singing in the CAUMC Cherub choir as a wee lad under the tutelage of Erma Riley. Our congregation has delighted in watching him grow in Christian faith and passion for music. He is now a blessing to young school children in Liberal, Kansas. Willie and his fiancé, Rachel Hunt, will sing a duet at our 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Service. Here’s a video of what he’s been up to lately.

Christmas Morning Service

We’ll have our regularly scheduled worship service on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, 2022. The plan is to have a fun, casual, easy-going Service of Nine Lessons and Carols (without a sermon) to celebrate Christ’s birth. You are invited to come as you are. Pajamas are more than acceptable—as long as they are decent.

Please note that I plan to arrive and unlock the church doors no earlier than 9:30 that morning. So be sure to let me know if you’ll need into the building before then.

It’s Probably Just Allergies . . .

I feel just fine. I’ve had allergies since I was a kid. And I think that’s what I’m experiencing now. But with the uptick of COVID, the flu, colds, and RSV, I don’t want to risk getting any of you sick. It’s probably just allergies, but just in case, I’m masking.

Children and Youth Christmas Programs

All members and friends of College Avenue UMC are invited to the Children’s Christmas program, “Get In Line For Christmas,” at 4:00 pm this Sunday, December 11, 2022. It will be followed by a youth production of “The Christmas Program That Almost Didn’t Happen.”
