Christmas Caroling

Clark Williamson, Director of Music Ministries, sent us the following invitation:

“O Come All Ye Faithful”, you are cordially invited to a musical get-together.  Sunday, December 1st will be our annual Christmas Caroling event led by Clark Williamson and Rev. Jenny Collins.  This musical excursion is for all church members and friends thereof.   Please meet in the church parking lot at 2:45 pm.  Directions for 5 home stops will be passed out. We’ll sing five carols on the front porches of our congregants who need some TLC and holiday cheer.  After the singing is done we’ll meet back at Wright Hall in the church basement to warm up with some finger foods, desserts, coffee, and hot cider.  Please indicate your intention to participate by signing the sheet in the narthex when you come to worship on Nov. 24th and Dec. 1st.   “We wish you a merry Christmas, and a happy New Year!”

Our Tithe

It is November, and we are in the middle of a sermon series on stewardship. Because we will soon be encouraging you to carefully consider your giving to the church in 2014, it seems only fair that we share with you what our commitment will be. We believe you deserve to know whether or not we are practicing what we preach. We are committed to giving $8,400.00 in 2014. This represents a tithe on our income in the amount of $7,200 and an additional $1,200 because the church provides us with a parsonage rent free.

Fall Food Drive

In response to the recent cuts in SNAP (food stamp) benefits, the Outreach Team decided to call for a Fall Food drive and collect items for the local food pantry during the remaining Sundays in November. Some of the items needed are:

  • canned soup
  • crackers
  • pasta
  • cereals
  • dry beans
  • rice
  • ramen noodles
  • hygiene items

I would also add that in my experience, peanut butter is a big favorite for those families with children.

Cinnamon Rolls

The church is filled with the delightful smell of rising cinnamon rolls. Now I’m really looking forward to the UMW Fall Bazaar beginning at 9 am tomorrow.

Fall Clean-Up Day

The Board of Trustees have set Saturday, November 9, 2013 as the annual Fall Church Clean-up Day. Work will begin at 9 am and continue until noon. Please bring gloves, rakes and large trash bags. The men’s fellowship group has offered to provide a hot breakfast that morning for anyone willing to lend a hand, just be sure to sign up on the sheet at the back of the Narthex. There will also be hot coffee and homemade cinnamon rolls provided throughout the morning.
