Voice of the Day: Peter Wehner

“… as a Christian who attends church on a weekly basis, hosts a Bible study, reads the Scriptures, speaks openly about my faith (and even writes about it from time to time on this web site), and who can pray at any moment of the day or night, I would say this: Whatever is happening in America today, it cannot fairly be considered a “war” on Christianity.”

— Peter Wehner on the website of Commentary magazine.

According to Commentary, Wehner “is a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. Previously he worked in the administrations of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush. In the last of which, he served as deputy assistant to the president.”

My primary concern about all the talk about a “War on Christianity/Christmas” is that it needlessly distracts Christians from the larger tasks of sharing the Gospel and advancing the Reign of God. In the interest of full disclosure I should probably note that I’m guessing that Wehner and I have different conceptions of what those things look like.
