Coffeyville Journal Article

A great many thanks to Nancy Wright for putting our weekly Coffeyville Journal articles together. Here’s the one for this week:

The Rev. John Collins will focus on “The Abundant Life with Jesus Christ” this Sunday at First United Methodist Church. The sermon is based on the scripture John 10.1-10.

Services times are 8:10 a.m. in the chapel and 10:50 a.m. in the sanctuary. If you are new to Coffeyville and seeking a church home you are encouraged to worship with us this Mothers’ Day. Visitors are always welcome at First Methodist, 10th and Elm Streets. Sunday school for God’s children of all ages is at 9:30 a.m. following a coffee time in fellowship hall.

Faye Millen will direct the choir in the anthem “One Step He Leads.” The choir also will sing “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” for the introit. Henry Millen is organist for the second service. Carla Herring is pianist for the first service.

The youth will meet at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church. Monday the Men’s Prayer Breakfast meets at 7:15 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. Wednesday the Vision Team meets at 5:15 p.m. and the choir meets at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 19, a new short-term study will begin at the church. The group meets at 6:30 p.m. The study is based on a book by Adam Hamilton titled, “Christianity’s Family Tree: What Other Christians Believe and Why.” This study includes both a book and a DVD. The study will last eight weeks. Interested persons should contact the church office at 251-3240.

Plans are underway for the 2011 Vacation Bible School at Coffeyville First United Methodist Church. VBS will be in session Monday-Friday, July 18-22, from 9 a.m. – noon. The theme this year is, “Shake It Up Cafe: Where Kids Carry Out God’s Recipe”. VBS is open to all children entering grades K-6 and for preschool children who are a part of First UMC. You can register online at the church website or call the church office at 620-251-3240.
